PHD project

To understand more about the inner workings of serious games, we had a PhD project conducted on collaborative play, using player experiences from our games as data. The project was conducted by Håvard Almås as an industrial PhD collaboration between us and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology – funded in part by the Research Council of Norway.

Kindergarten game

With METSTA, we are creating a series of serious games that offer a playful introduction to standards for children and adolescents. The purpose of the games is to give insight into how common understanding is created and why having rules makes society work. This is essentially what standards are and understanding how standards work is important for being part of society.

One of our earliest forays into researching what makes serious games tick was a master’s thesis carried out by Håvard Almås at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.
